What if it takes a while to sell?

£50
£25 for 60 days, then one month added.
£110
£25 to start, then four months of extensions.
£170
£25 to start, then seven months of extensions.
£49
£49 covers the full 90 days, nothing more to pay.
£94
£49 to start, then three months of extensions.
£139
£49 to start, then six months of extensions.
£89
£89 covers the full 120 days, nothing more to pay.
£119
£89 plus one £30 block, then it stays live free.
£119
Same as six months: free once three extension months are paid.
Illustrative totals in GBP, rounded, based on the cheapest extension route. Gold stays live free after three paid extension months, kept current by a monthly “still for sale?” check, which is why six and nine months cost the same. Other currencies shown at checkout.
Selling your boat: advice and guidance
A well-prepared boat sells faster and for more. Here is how to give yours the best chance. This is general guidance, not formal advice for your particular situation.
01Be honest and upfront
Describe the boat as it really is, faults and all. Buyers respect a straight seller, and a problem you hid always surfaces at survey. Honesty sells faster than spin.
02Gather the paperwork first
Proof of ownership, previous bills of sale, registration, and confirmation that any finance is settled. Have it ready before you list, buyers ask early, and a quick answer builds trust.
03Build a history folder
Service records, receipts, survey reports, engine hours, and work done. A boat with a documented history is worth more and sells faster. Let a serious buyer see it and form a positive picture.
04Clean her up
Give the boat a proper clean inside and out before you photograph or show her. Clear the clutter, wipe her down, polish the gelcoat. First impressions land in seconds.
05Fix the little things
A blown bulb, a sticking latch, a frayed line. Small niggles make a buyer wonder what bigger things have been neglected. Sorting them is cheap and pays back.
06Take great photos
Good light, a tidy boat, and plenty of angles inside and out, including the engine and the details that matter. Add video if you can, a walkthrough sells better than any still.
07Price it right
Use our price guide to see what similar boats are asking. Priced fairly, a boat sells; priced high, it sits and goes stale. Start firm if you like, but be realistic.
08Write a full description
Fill in the detail: spec, equipment, engine hours, recent work, and why you are selling. The more complete the advert, the better it ranks in search and the fewer time-wasting questions you field. Our AI writer can turn your notes into a polished draft.
09Be ready to demonstrate
Have the boat ready to view and to run. Offer a sea trial or river trial to a serious buyer, seeing her under way is what closes the deal. A confident demonstration reassures.
10Respond quickly and be flexible
Reply to enquiries promptly and be accommodating about viewings. Buyers move on fast, and the seller who answers first often gets the sale.
Seller questions
How much does it cost?
From £25 to list, and Wave and Wake takes no commission on the sale. Bronze £25 (60 days), Silver £49 (90 days), Gold £89 (120 days).
What's the difference between the tiers?
Time, exposure and extras. Bronze is a simple 60-day listing. Silver adds unlimited photos, video, more views and the AI tools for 90 days. Gold adds top-of-search placement, a homepage feature and a service-history panel for 120 days.
Can I add my own video?
Yes. On Silver and Gold, paste a YouTube or Vimeo link (your channel keeps the views), or upload short clips directly.
What happens when my listing runs out?
Extend it before it ends, by the month or in a cheaper three-month block. Gold listings go free after three paid extension months, kept live by a monthly confirmation that the boat is still for sale.
Can I edit after publishing?
Yes, price, description, photos and status any time. Only the identifying details are locked, and those can be corrected on request.
Is there a tier for very cheap boats?
We start at £25 (Bronze). For boats under about £1,500, a general marketplace like eBay or Facebook Marketplace is usually a better fit.
